The Invaders created a campaign for Vibrant Emotional Health promoting the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline through gaming communities in the United States.

The Netherlands-based independent agency developed the work for 988, the nationwide mental health crisis hotline that launched in July 2022 as an alternative to 911 for mental health emergencies. The campaign uses gaming platforms to reach audiences where mental health conversations have historically been difficult.

Vibrant Emotional Health administers the 988 Lifeline, which connects callers to trained crisis counselors. The organization operates the network of over 200 local crisis centers that respond to calls, texts, and chats to the three-digit number.

The Invaders' approach targets gaming communities specifically. Mental health awareness campaigns have looked to gaming spaces as audiences, particularly younger demographics, spend significant time in these digital environments. The campaign aims to normalize mental health discussions within communities that have traditionally resisted them.

The work marks The Invaders' entry into U.S. public health advertising. The agency, founded in Amsterdam, has previously worked with brands including Adidas and VICE. Their portfolio focuses on youth culture and digital-first creative.

Since 988 launched, usage has grown to over 5 million contacts annually across calls, texts, and chats. The Biden administration allocated $432 million in 2024 to expand the lifeline's capacity and awareness. Vibrant Emotional Health has worked with multiple agencies to drive adoption of the service, including previous campaigns from Droga5 and MullenLowe.

The gaming-focused strategy reflects broader shifts in mental health outreach. Organizations partner with Twitch streamers, Discord communities, and gaming publishers to embed mental health resources where younger audiences already gather.
